Contributory pension scheme is being implemented by the Government of India from 01-09-2004. The State Governments have been adopted this scheme from the Government of India.
The employees who got appointed after 01-09-2004 in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh comes under the Contributory pension scheme. In this scheme Government will deduct 10% of amount from the basic and 10% of amount from the Dearness Allowances of employee and credits in CPS Accounts. Government will share the same amount of share to the employees share. Both Employee share and Government matching share will be credited in to the CPS account of employee.
Example:
An employee drawing the salary with basic of Rs. 30,000/- and obtaining Dearness allowance of 33.356% on his basic(i.e. 30,000), Then his the Dearness allowance becomes Rs 10,006/-. Now the Government will deduct 10% of his basic(i.e. Rs. 3000/-) and 10% if his Dearness allowance (i.e. RS 1,006/-) from his gross salary. Now the CPS deduction becomes Rs 3000 + Rs 1006 = Rs 4006/-.
Same amount (i.e. Rs 4006/-) will be included as Government matching funds to the employee contribution. Both will become Rs 8012/- (Rs. 4006/- + Rs 4006/- = Rs 8012/-).
Now Rs 8012/- will be credited to employees CPS Account by the Government.
During this process some times the deducted amount will not be credited in to the CPS account. In this case employee has to check his statement and intimate to his/her Drawing Officer. The Drawing Officer has to take necessary steps accordingly to complete the missing transactions.
